Day 30
I know the 30 day challenge ended a week or so ago, but I never got around to finishing posting. Everything went well, I was able to meet my goal and finished my 1st half-marathon. I am looking forward to running a few more half-marathons this year. We might start another 30 day challenge soon :)

Day 29
Well I got up this morning and exercised even though my body was telling me NOOOO!! One more day.

Day 27&28
Ok the past two days since the half marathon have been hard, so I did not run or workout. I'am still trying to give my body the rest it needs. Feeling a little better today, but still a little sore.

Day 26
So, I was able to finish the Long Beach half Marathon. My goal at the start was to finish in under two hours, well I did it I finish in 1:54. It was an awesome experience and painful too :) but it was all worth it in the end; we'll see if I feel the same tomorrow :) looking forward to running it again next year and maybe I'll try the full marathon.

Day 24&25
Yesterday and today I did not do the full 5 mile runs I did 4 miles instead. I'm looking forward to the Long Beach run tomorrow. Getting ready and packed for LB, I'll post pics tomorrow.

Day 23
Getting close to the finish line, I can see it. I got up a little late but was still able to get my run in. Keep pushing everyone.

Day 21 & 22
OK, so I have to confess yesterday I did not do my 5 miles, I only did 2 miles. Today I woke up late so I was not able to get in my run, but I did get in a workout. The 1/2 marathon is coming up, so ill stay focused for the days that remain. I know it won't be easy, but I'm looking forward to Sunday.

Day 20
Well today was my last big run before my 1/2 marathon on Sunday, can't wait. I was able to do 10 miles, but the last 1/4 before I finished really kicked my butt. I'm looking forward to next Sunday 😜
Saturday, September 29, 2012
Day 19
Well the 1/2 marathon is next Sunday, can't wait. Tomorrow will be my last Sunday run until then. I still haven't decided on whether to run 10 miles or a half marathon tomorrow? I let you guys know tomorrow 😜

Day 18
This morning I was able to get my run in, but I only did 3 miles and not my daily 5 miles. I did get in a little workout after my run so I guess it makes up for not finishing my 5 miles. Well that's it for today.

Day 17

I read the story above today and it just made my day. J-Mac is an awesome kid and someone who proves that there are no limits to your desires. I will surely remember this story when I feel like not getting up in the morning to go for a run.

Day 16
I was able to get my run in today, but not at the normal time. I ran when I got home after school; thankfully is was not as hot as it's been the last couple of weeks.
Day 15
So today was an unsuccessful day, I decided that on my days after my big run that I would use them to rest. Last week after my Sunday run I did too much and I was in pain for two days. Instead of running the day after a big run I decided to do some other sort of exercise.

Day 14
I was able to get my run to Mt. Rubidoux in this morning. I have to say it's getting a little easier, oh I also bought some new shoes, and they were on sale :) Today I shaved one minute off of my run, so I finished in 1:23. I hope everyone is doing well on their challenges, keep it up.
Day 12&13
Well today started off slow and I was not able to get my run in this morning. I made up for it at night walking through Disneyland and California adventure Friday night. Saturday morning I was only able to get about half my run in, I'll make up for it on Sunday.

Day 11
This morning was really hard to get up, I started one of my two classes that I am taking for my PPS credential. We meet on Wed and Thur nights, so needless to say thing morning was really hard to get up. I hope tomorrow will not be as difficult to get up after a very long day of work and school at night. I was only able to run half of what I normally run since I woke up late and tired.
Wednesday, September 19, 2012
Day 10
Well I'am back on track and did my 5 miles this morning. I really needed that day off to recover. I think things will be better from here on out.
Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Day 9
This morning was no good; I stayed in bed and got extra sleep instead of running. I will make up my run today when I get home from work. I guess the run on Sunday really took a lot out of me; my legs were killing me all day yesterday. I think I really needed the break this morning though, I plan to make it up later on today.

Day 8
Well, this morning’s run went well. I thought I would be tired or aching
from yesterday's run, but I felt pretty good. I did not run really hard because
my right knee was hurting me a little. It feels fine after I finished the run.
I can't believe it, one week down and 3 more to go.

Day 7
Well today was my run to Mt. Rubidoux, it went well. The
soreness in my legs is starting to die off, thank goodness. The total run from
my house was 9:02 miles and I completed it in 1:24:52. I really started getting
tired on the way back, and I am happy to say that I did not stop running the
whole time. I may have slowed down, but I did not stop. The worst thing about
my run was right around mile 1; it really started to smell like a skunk had
just sprayed, luckily the smell did not last too long. All in all it was a
good run, I just hope I didn't beat my legs up too much and can still run in
the morning :) Great job you guys, keep up the excellent work, I know YOU CAN
DO IT!
This is the entrance to Mt. Rubidoux : )

Day 6
Today I woke a little late, but I was still able to get my 5 miles in. Tomorrow my big run, hopefully I make it, I'll let you know how it goes.
Friday, September 14, 2012
Day 5
Well we made it through the first week of the challenge. I hope everyone is
doing o.k. I've been reading a lot of your post and it seems like everyone is
sticking to their challenges. I think this weekend will prove to the rest
whether they are committed or not, I have faith in all of you that you will
succeed. I’m looking forward to my run on Sunday. I 'am going to run to Mt.
Rubidoux from my house; it's about 9 miles round trip.
Thursday, September 13, 2012
Day 4
I'm finding it a little easier to get up @ 4 to go running now; the real
test will be this weekend. I decided to get up @ 6 instead of 4am on the
weekends. I'm also going to use Sunday as my long day or the day that I go
running outside. Today the first mile was horrible, but after that everything
went smoothly.

Day 3
Today
was really hard to get up @ 4am, I truly felt like stopping halfway through my
run. Thankfully I pushed through and finished. I also shaved 20 sec off of
yesterdays run; my time today was 46:55 :) I’m also pleased to hear about all
the challenges going on. We have at least 5 staff members so far doing a
challenge. Best of luck to everyone and keep up the good work
Tuesday, September 11, 2012
Day 2
Well the good news is that I shaved 9 seconds off of my time 47:15 today.
The bad news is that my feet (toes) really hurt. I think I will need new
running shoes soon. Other than that day 2 was a success; let's hope it gets
easier from here on out 28 more days to go.
Monday, September 10, 2012
Day 1
Today I started my 30 day challenge and did my 5 mile run. At first it was a little difficult to get up and go running, but after mile 1 it got a little easier. Five miles is a lot different than the 2-3 miles I’m use to. Well I feel good; let’s see if everyone sticks to their challenge.

1st post
I created this as an assignment for my AVID students. We are going to start a 30 day challenge. The students and I will try and challenge ourselves to do, or not do, something for 30 days. My challenge is to run 5 miles or more a day for the next 30 days. This will hopefully prep me for my first half marathon on Oct 7th. I will keep a daily blog about my times and any complications along the way. I hope that my students are as ready or shall I say nervous as I am.
